Returnables and Export Wood Pallets
Used wooden pallets in popular sizes are generally in good supply. Especially if the wood pallet has been built according to standards set by various industry groups.
Standards for materials and load capacities help to make sure the pallet is built to withstand being used multiple times. Consistent dimensions allow the pallet to be used interchangeably in a system that returns and pools inspected and repaired wooden pallets for reuse.
Available in A Grade and B Grade use conditions, the most popular used wooden pallet in the US is the GMA pallet. The Grocery Manufacturers Association specifies the dimensions as 48x40. The size has been adopted as the gold standard by many industries.
Also popular in the US is the 800x1200 Euro wooden pallet. The used Euro is popular because it has already been treated in accordance with ISPM 15 regulations and EPAL standards for export to Europe.
Used CP pallets made from wood meet standards originally set by the VCI for the chemical industry. The standard defines nine models starting with the 1000x1200 CP1 and ending with 1140x1140 CP9. These pallets are produced and reconditioned by registered pallet suppliers.
